Beautiful hair is every woman’s dream. Every girl wants her hair to resemble like silk thread as depicted by poets in their poetry. Somehow, girls who are endowed with dry and frizz hair find it hard to manage their tresses and tend to feel that it is their destiny to live with dull and lifeless hair.
No amount of readymade shampoos and conditioners give them those lustrous locks which they crave for. Dry hairs also tend to get split ends fast due to which they do not grow very much. The good news is that all these problems can be reduced to minimum by using home remedies.
There are very effective and yet mild hair care ingredients available in your kitchen which can transform your hair texture into soft and shiny one. All you need to put in is faith in these products and use them on regular basis.
Home Remedies For Dry And Lifeless Hair
Curd And Honey Mix
Curd and honey are two excellent natural conditioners. While yogurt gently nourishes your scalp and cleanses dandruff, honey attracts natural moisture from the air and binds them to your hair surface to make them soft and beautiful. Take a cup of fat free yogurt and mix it with a tablespoon of honey. Mix it well to make a consistent mix.
Apply this paste from root to tips of damp hair. It is very important to wet your hair before applying the mix because honey will lock in the moisture of water into your hair shaft. Wear a shower cap for 30 minutes. Wash off with shampoo meant for dry hair.
Milk Cream And Glycerin
This may seem a bizarre mix but it is a very effective home remedy for dry and lifeless hair. Take a tablespoon of milk cream and beat it lightly. Mix half tablespoon of glycerin into the cream. Massage this mix on damp hair and wear a shower cap. Wrap a hot towel on the shower cap for 10 minutes. Wash off with some mild shampoo diluted with water.
Areetha (Soapnuts), Amla (Indian Gooseberry) And Shikakai (Acacea Concinna) Powder
This mix has been used traditionally for cleaning and conditioning hair. Though a bit messy and time taking but it is gentle on hair and can dramatically change the texture of your hair. Take a tablespoon of this powder for short hair. Increase the proportion of the powder if you have longer hair.
Soak them in some water overnight and simmer on low heat till water reduces to half. Cool it and use like shampoo on your hair. Do not put too much oil in your hair. Light oiling works best for this homemade shampoo. If you have oily hair or your scalp is greasy and dirty then you can wash your hair without oiling them.
You can make a wonderful hair serum from flaxseed for reducing frizz . Take a tablespoon of flaxseed and boil them in a big glass of water.
Keep stirring throughout till you begin to see a jelly forming on the surface of the boiling pot. Collect the jelly and strain it. Store this jelly in a glass bottle and keep it in fridge. Use it as a hair serum after every wash.
Vinegar helps in restoring ph balance of hair and hence reduce dryness and frizz and restores shine to the hair. Take a tablespoon of vinegar and mix it with half mug of water. Use this as the last rinse for your hair after washing off your hair with some mild shampoo.
