Pyrexia or fever is the body’s natural defense mechanism against different kinds of infections. The mean body temperature is controlled by a portion of the brain known as the hypothalamus. When a person contracts some kind of illness or an infection the hypothalamus triggers a sudden rise in body temperature.
Injury, certain types of medication and even specific medical conditions like arthritis can cause fever. A noticeable rise in body temperature can interfere with an individual’s normal eating, drinking and sleeping patterns. Extreme rise in body temperature can cause severe dehydration.
Home Remedies For Fever

Drink Willow Bark Tea
This is an excellent home remedy for fever. To make refreshing willow bark tea, heat one cup of water in a saucepan. When the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat and add half a teaspoon of willow bark tea. Willow bark tea powder can be easily obtained from any store selling herbal products.
Allow the tea powder to steep in the hot water for a couple of minutes. Now strain the tea and drink it immediately. For best results drink willow bark tea every couple of hours or so.
Apply Cold Compress
Nothing can possibly beat a raging fever like a cold compress. Take some ice cold water in a bowl. Now dip a clean face towel in the water. Let the towel soak up the water. Wring the excess water out. Now fold the face towel in half and place it over the patient’s forehead. Repeat the procedure a number of times till body temperature drops.
Take A Cool Bath

Drink Plenty Of Water

So, make the patient drink at least eight to ten glasses of boiled and cooled water. Drinking a lot of water can also help to bring down extremely high body temperature.
Drink Holy Basil Tea
Holy basil has amazing healing properties. Drinking holy basil tea a couple of times a day is known to bring down high body temperatures. To prepare the basil tea, heat one glass of water in a saucepan. When the water starts to boil reduce the heat.
