What Are Anti-Aging Creams?
These are moisturizers that contain substances that remove dead skin cells or aid in their regeneration. Some of these protect the skin from damage due to overexposure to sunlight, while others help to protect the skin by aiding in the process of regeneration.
One of the ingredients that are used widely in anti-aging creams is Retinol, a derivative of Vitamin A. It does the same work as a topical exfoliant that removes dead cells, but it also works on a deeper level, penetrating deeper into the Epidermis and expelling detritus that clogs the pores and impedes their important function.
Chemical peels do the same work as Retinol, exfoliating the skin, removing the dead cells and preparing the ground for the appearance of new ones. These are made from alpha or beta hydroxyl acids and as with any acid, these are abrasive and can irritate sensitive skin. Anti-Aging creams containing this compound should not be used by people with sensitive skin types.
Sunscreens also come in the category of anti-aging creams. As the name suggests, their basic function is to prevent the sun from damaging the skin. The ultra-violet spectrum in sunlight could cause skin cancer, while the heat could damage the skin. A sunscreen with a protection factor of 15 should be used whenever venturing out in the hot sun.
Use Products with Natural Ingredients
One thing that you should always bear in mind is that anti-aging creams can contain either natural or synthetic ingredients. Natural ingredients are nearly always safe to use, while their synthetic counterparts can sometimes react unfavorably with your particular skin type.
