Baby Showers
When you think of pregnancy, baby showers instantly come to mind. Baby showers have become an essential part of our culture. They normally bring about one of two reactions, either an ear-to-ear grin or the cooing over baby décor.
Some women love mini-terrycloth bathrobes, the prospect of silver spoons, itty-bitty sneakers and storks.
Baby showers, much like bridal showers and bachelorette party now involve games, concepts and themes and are meant to congratulate the mother-to-be.
They are meant to be a pleasant experience so it is important that it incorporate elements that the mother-to-be likes. A baby shower can be easily organized with a group of eight girls from work or with fifty of the mother-to-be’s nearest and dearest friends.
Though there are no set rules for how to organize a baby shower, there are activities that are commonly associated with them. A baby shower is essentially a mix of theme, decor, invitations, guests, and games.
Nowadays throwing a baby shower gives the hostess an opportunity to practice her skills and show just how close she is to the pregnant woman. A baby shower is also an excuse to capture and freeze the wonderful memories associated with the situation, and the event is sure to be a precious life moment.
Traditionally, baby showers were only organized for the family’s first child. Nowadays baby showers are held for all children and even adopted children. It is not uncommon for pregnant women to have more than one baby shower.
Social gatherings like baby showers originated in the USA, but are increasingly popular in Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America. In India, religious rituals that are somewhat similar to baby showers are held in the seventh month of pregnancy. Though baby showers were originally held exclusively for and by women, both men and women participate nowadays.
