Breastfeeding Tips
Breastfeeding is a natural process when you take the baby to your breasts and put the nipples to its mouth. However, at times you may have to express milk through hand or through a pump, either manual or electrical, which requires a wee bit of care and commitment. Breastfeeding is the best way to feed and both you as mother and your child will benefit immensely by breastfeeding.
To make your breastfeeding a pleasant experience, follow these tips:
As a mom, you should take liquid food which is healthy, like juices, milk and soup. Before you start nursing, drink a glassful of water. If you are applying lotions, perfumes, or sprays on the body, don’t use them on your breasts. You should change breast pads when these become wet, and ensure cleanliness and health of your breasts.
If your bras are tight, it will engorge your breasts. If you see marks left behind by bra, it suggests a tight bra. Also loose tops would be better like shirts and vests, so that engorgement is prevented. If your milk is escaping, which happens at times, you must use breast pads on both the breasts, to avoid wetting your tops.
If you don’t like to breastfeed the child in public, have a blanket with you, so that you can cover the baby and your breasts, while breastfeeding. Your dress should also be such that you can easily access breasts.
Breastfeeding the baby is almost a divine experience. Imagine the love that flows through the human milk into the baby. Don’t dismiss it as another duty and don’t look down upon it. Don’t ever think that by breastfeeding the baby, the shape of your breasts will alter for the worse. Breasts are not merely sex-toys, though many use them in that manner. They are meant to feed the baby and don’t deny the baby its right.
It is very essential that the baby gets its milk from the mother because medically the milk is not merely nutrient, but also contain immunity providing essentials. Mother’s milk is necessary to protect the child from future infections.
