Squeeze out the excess water and clean the eye first, by gently wiping it from the inside i.e near the nose to the outside. Discard used cloth immediately. Take another wet cloth and press it on the clean eye and let it rest. The warm compress will give you relief from the pain and swelling. Do this several times a day and remember to wash hands immediately.

Although, it may sound strange, honey can actually cure pink eye. A drop or two of honey applied directly on the affected eye will help it heal faster. Honey has anti-bacterial properties that kill the infection causing bacteria.

Another way of using honey is by mixing a tablespoon of honey in a cup of lukewarm water. Use this water to wash your eyes at least once a day.

Potatoes help in cleaning the eye as they are natural astringents. Thinly slice a potato and place it over the eyes. Leave for 15-20 minutes. Wash off with cold water.

A mixture of coriander and water helps in healing pink eye faster. It reduces pain, swelling, and the production of mucus. Boil some water and add a handful of dried coriander in it. Let it simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and strain it.

Aloe vera soothes the infected eye and stops the swelling and redness. Extract the juice from the aloe plant and put a few drops of it on the affected eye. You can also apply the juice as a cold compress.

Fennel helps reduce inflammation and reduce pain. Boil some water and add a tablespoon of fennel seeds. Simmer for another 3-4 minutes and strain the mixture.

Now take out the cotton balls and place them over the eyes. You might feel some stinging but this is only the salt doing its job. Salt has many properties that will kill the infection causing organisms. Remove the cotton balls after 5-10 minutes. Discard the used cotton balls immediately.

We all know that almost all diseases can be treated by a healthy and vegetable-rich diet. To cure pink eye too, you need to have the juices of vegetables as they contain several nutrients and properties that will kill the bacteria and virus that is causing pink eye.

You can also dip a clean finger in the juice and apply the lemon around the eye.
