GERD also known as Gastroesophageal reflux disease is characterized by severe heartburn and acid reflux. It is a disease which occurs when the acid from the stomach moves into the esophagus. Good eating habits, change in diet and lifestyle can keep this condition at check.

Natural Remedies for GERD
A fast and inexpensive method for finding relief from symptoms of GERD such as heartburn, chest pain and nausea is to chew on some gum. However, make sure that you chew on plain gum and not the flavored variety. Flavored chewing gum can in fact increase the symptoms of GERD.
Another effective cure for getting relief from GERD symptoms is to chew on some roasted fennel seeds. Fennel seeds aids in digestion and also helps to prevent stomach spasms. You can even boil a tablespoon of fennel seeds in water and sip it slowly after meals.
Eating Smaller Meals
One of the main reasons for GERD is bad eating habits. Infrequent meals and heavy meals full of saturated fats and spices makes a person more prone to having digestive problems such as GERD. To combat this, you need to give your stomach some rest and have smaller meals frequently. Instead of having two heavy meals, try to eat small portions four to five times a day.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Add two tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water. Sip this water slowly after a meal. Doing this will help you to get relief from heartburn. Apple cider vinegar is alkaline which helps to neutralize the stomach acids.
Roast a teaspoon of coriander seeds and boil it in a glass of water for four to five minutes. Once the water is cool, strain the water and discard the coriander seeds. Sip this water slowly after a meal. The coriander water will aid in digestion and help in treating heartburn and nausea to a great extent.
If you feel heartburn and acidity after having a meal, then a good idea is to have some cold milk. Just have half a cup of unsweetened cold milk after your meal. It will have a soothing effect and will give you relief from heartburn immediately.
Aloe Vera Juice
When suffering from symptoms of GERD, it is best to have a tablespoon or two or pure aloe vera juice. Aloe vera has anti-inflammatory properties which provide relief to the stomach and esophagus during an episode of GERD.
Mix a teaspoon of baking soda to a glass of cold water. Drink this water immediately to get relief from heartburn and acid reflux. As baking soda has alkaline properties it neutralizes the acid in the stomach.
However, make sure that you do not mix more than one teaspoon of baking soda to the water. These were some natural cures for GERD. Some lifestyle changes and good eating habits will help in keeping GERD under control.
