Natural Remedies For Bunions
The pain and swelling from a bunion can become very hard to bear. In such a case soaking your feet in warm water is very effective. Fill a bucket with warm water and add a tablespoon of Epsom salt to it.
Soak affected feet in this warm water for 10-15 minutes or until the water turns cold. Do this everyday in the evenings to get relief from the pain and inflammation.
One of the best remedies for bunions is to perform regular foot exercise. Stretch your big toe towards the outside of your foot with your hands. Do this eight to ten times a day. Another great exercise is to place your feet on the floor and then raise your heel, putting pressure on your toes. Repeat this exercise eight to ten times every day. This will help to increase flexibility of the joints of your feet. If you find this to be very painful, go slow and repeat these exercises just three to four times a day. You can do this exercise anytime, while watching television, working on the computer or reading a book.
Wearing Shoe Inserts
As people with flat feet are more prone to having bunions, it is imperative to provide support adequate support to the foot while wearing shoes.

Massage your feet regularly with olive oil mixed with a few drops of spearmint oil and rosehip essential oil. Just heat half a cup of olive oil and add the spearmint and rosehip essential oil. Allow the oil to cool. Once it is comfortable enough to touch, massage the entire foot with this oil in gentle upward movement. Make sure that you do not apply too much pressure while massaging the toes. Done regularly, this will help in alleviating the pain from bunions.
If the pain and swelling is very severe, it is best to apply an ice pack. Place a few ice cubes in a plastic bag or a clean cloth and apply this pack over the affected area for 10 -15 minutes.
Chamomile Tea Compress
Heat some water in a pot until its boiling. Steep a chamomile tea bag in the boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Remove the bag and place it in the refrigerator to chill for half an hour. Place the chilled chamomile tea bag over the affected toe for 15-20 minutes. Chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties which will help in reducing inflammation and swelling.
