A dye, commonly a vegetable dye, is applied to the upper lashes. The process takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Depending on the shade you choose, the application may require more than one coat. If you are not professional enough, don’t try it yourself. To ensure the safety of your eyes, take the help of a professional at a salon. Once the application is done, it is necessary to wash and rinse the eyes with mild soap.
Purchasing Eyelash Dye
If you are not a salon professional, it will be a bit difficult for you to locate permanent eyelash dye. Try asking for it in beauty supply shops or at a local salon.
Different types of eye lash dyes like permanent, semi-permanent and temporary dyes in wide range of colors are available in the market. So first decide the type of dye you want to use, before heading to the store. Choose the kit that best compliments your hair color and skin tone.
Perform an allergy test after mixing the dye. Apply a drop of mixed solution on an inconspicuous patch of your skin. If there is any adverse reaction, do not use the dye. Before applying the dye, make sure that your face and eyelids are makeup free and clean. For protecting the skin around your eye, apply petroleum jelly around it.
Be careful that product does not get into the eye. Using a mascara wand, apply the color to your lashes, first at the top and then at the bottom. Be careful the wand doesn’t drip. Leave for 3 to 4 minutes or as specified in the direction sheet. Keep on wiping with a tissue or wet cloth till the color comes off.
