Coloring your hair is a delicate operation that should be done only after ascertaining that the color is right for you.
Any error could only be corrected after a long time and so you should be doubly careful to take certain precautions before venturing to take your hair into your hands.
Choose Your Color
You should first decide on the color that you are going to use. You should always choose a color that is closest to your own natural hair color. You would thereby choose a hair color that complements your skin tone, and since nature chose your particular combination of hair and skin colors, you cannot go wrong by emphasizing nature’s colors.
Before applying the color, you should take certain precautions, bearing in mind that once you have colored your hair there is no turning back. You should first test that the color is right for you. It should make you feel good and it should look just right for you. Take a few strands of hair, preferably from the back of your head, apply the color to these strands and observe the results. Do you like it and does the color seem right to you? If the answer is yes, you can proceed to apply the color to your entire head of hair.
Apply the Dye
There are certain precautions you should take before applying the dye to your hair. First, you should not apply the dye on wet hair. With some types of dye you can do this, but unless the directions on the package say you can, you should only apply it to dry hair. Another thing that you should not do is to mix different hair colors, even if the colors are from the same manufacturer and can be used on the same type of hair.
Wash and Dry
You should also wash your hair before applying the dye and dry it completely, preferably the day before you apply the color. You should also prepare your hair for the dying process by conditioning it after washing. This will prepare the hair, remove excess oil and make it ready to receive the dye. The process of washing and deep conditioning should be done preferably on the day before coloring.
