Harmful Effects of Diabetes
Diabetes and sexual health of a woman have a close relationship. Scientists have found that those women with type 1 and type 2 diabetes have sexual health problem.
How diabetes affects the sexual life?
Infection ‘Vignitis’:
This is caused in women who have high blood sugar. If high blood sugar is not properly treated, it could result in yeast infection and when this infection intensifies it could cause ‘Vignitis’. ‘Vignitis’ is a severe urinary tract infection. This infection affects the sexual life of the woman. Proper medication will be required to control this infection. Simultaneously, blood sugar level also should be regulated.
Problems in reaching the Orgasm:
In the case of some women, they feel the problem in reaching the orgasm. As a result of this, they feel uncomfortable and the sex would be painful. In some cases, this situation could even cause damage to the nerve. So their sexual life would become a difficult task. Such a situation would also cause psychological problem for the women. The best remedy to get over this problem is to consult the physician.
Tightness of the Vagina:
This is also called ‘Vaginal tightness’ or ‘Vaginismus’. Vaginismus could be caused due to diabetes. Excessive blood sugar will cause spasm of the muscles around the vaginal opening. The expansion of Vagina would become difficult. So the women would experience pain and be uncomfortable during their relationship.
The remedy for this would be reducing blood sugar level. There are some exercises to relax the muscle. ‘Kegel’ is one such exercise. This exercise should be practiced daily.
Dryness of the Vagina:
High blood sugar causes dehydration of the muscles around the vagina. This will cause vaginal dryness because sufficient hormones are not produced in this area. Due to low hormone level, blood vessel is also damaged. In some cases, it will damage the nerves also.
When nerve is damaged, production of arousal and fluid also stops. This is the lubricating agent for the vagina. Apart from diabetes, the production of arousal and fluid could be affected due to age, pregnancy and also side effects of certain medicines which the woman would be taking. In such cases, the doctor should be consulted, who may prescribe some hormonal therapy.
