Nothing about heartburn is pleasant. While some face it infrequently, there are many for who this is a common occurrence. The good news is that heartburn can be stopped altogether from happening; you can totally save yourself from those pain pangs that you detest.

But to achieve that, there are a few requirements:

Like the old saying goes, prevention is always better than cure and this still is true. What is better than curing heartburn is to never have it in the first place! And this essentially entails you to revise your diet. Too spicy food, fried food, carbonated drinks etc. encourage the rise of heartburn.

Try to keep your diet simple and nutritious and do not overtly indulge in food which propels heartburn attacks. Also acidic food is another heartburn initiator. Smoking must be reduced considerably to get away from the clutches of heartburn.

Have plenty of water so that if there is an excess of acid production in your system, it will get neutralized and prevent heartburn from occurring.

While burping is not considered a pleasant table manner, do let that happen. It is a natural phenomenon which helps to vent the trapped air and gas inside and should not be stopped from happening.

Stress and anxiety are huge heartburn boosters. Relive yourself of your tension and learn to live life in a more slow and enjoyable way, that does not create undue pressure. Under stressed conditions, the stomach automatically produces a lot of acid and such situations should be averted as much as possible.

Do not keep an empty stomach for long; keep indulging in small meals in regular intervals. Eating too much at once also may be a cause of heartburn. Obese people usually have more instances of heartburn issues than ones who are not. Skipping meals is an absolutely no-no.

Some easy and handy ways of avoiding heartburn attack is to add good amount of mustard to your meal or to chew on ginger roots. Both are known to ebb the intensity of heartburn.

If none of these work, you may have to consider something more serious to be the cause of these heart burn attacks and consult your physician.
