Baking soda is also helpful in disinfecting the pus filled area of the tooth abscess and draws out the infection, thus reducing pain and swelling. This prevents the infection from spreading in your bloodstream. Just take half a teaspoon of baking soda and make a paste using little water.

Avoid Cold Food Items
If you have a tooth abscess, it’s best to avoid eating or drinking all cold things as they will worsen the pain. For effective tooth abscess treatment, it is necessary to keep the affected area soft and tender so that the infection can be drawn out.
Cold drinks and foods should be avoided completely as they will harden the surface and cause the infection to recede further inside the jaw. This will only worsen the condition. Instead, have warm food and hot drinks till your tooth abscess gets cured completely.
