Home Remedies to Get Rid of Dark Circles Under Eyes

Though dark circles can be a result of sleeplessness, there are many other important factors for this condition. 

You may be having these dark circles under the eyes due to a number of reasons, which may include:

Excessive drinking of alcohol and caffeinated beverages;
Allergies, thyroid dysfunction, insufficiency of Iron during menstruation.


You must first know why you have these dark circles and whether you had these always or is it a recent happening? Is there anybody in the family with the history of dark circles? If you know the reason, it would be easier to treat the problem.

Here are some tips to cure this condition:

If you are allergic to some things, you should keep off the allergens. Apply Vitamin-E, as well as Vitamin-C creams under the eyes. Use fish oils, especially Cod-liver Oil, which is good for eyes.

Make a paste of a tsp Tomato Juice, some drops of Lemon Juice, a dash of powdered Turmeric and a small amount of flour. Topically apply this paste to the affected area and rinse it away after fifteen minutes.

Consume lot of water, a minimum of 10 glasses daily. This is necessary to provide the body with hydration and to flush out toxins. Don’t wait to drink water till you are thirsty.

Don’t step out in the sun, especially in the midday when the sun is at its harshest. Protect your eyes with sunglasses. Get a used teabag which is cold and apply it on the eyes. You can also apply cold, herbal tea leaves to the eyes.

To hide dark circles, use a concealer. Choose a color which is marginally lighter than the shade of your skin and apply it gently without pulling the skin.

Place Cucumber or Potato slices on the lids after lying down and closing the eyes. Leave it there for 10 minutes and wash with cold water after removing the slices. Through this you can sooth your eyes and help enhance blood circulation in the area.

You can also use creams available in the market to remove these dark circles, but make sure it is of a genuine brand.
