Smoldering, Smokey eyes is an unbeatable hot trend which always ranks high on the fashion meter. It is a stylish way of adding drama to your attire. So wear this look and highlight your pretty peepers to create an impact. Follow this step by step guide to get the perfect Smokey eyes.
Tips to Get Smokey Eyes
Prepare Your Eyes
It is important to prepare your eyes before you start applying any make up on them. You must moisturise your eyelids and the delicate under eye area to smoothen and protect. You may also use a primer which will prevent the shadow from setting into to cresses. Then apply some concealer all around the eyes. A mineral based foundation would be apt for this purpose.
Outline the Eyes
The next step is to outline the eyes with a liner. You may use a charcoal pencil for this purpose as it smudges beautifully. A liquid liner works well in lining the eyelid along with the much needed shine.
An easy way to apply the liquid liner is to make small dots and join them together to get a perfect outline. Carefully define the top and bottom eye rims, beginning with the inner corner and moving towards the outer one.
Apply the Shadow
Application of eye shadow is the trickiest in getting the smoky eyes look. It is important to apply the shadow with caution and blend it well for a professional touch. First sweep silver eye shadow as a backdrop for the smoky eyes. Then blend charcoal tone along the lashes to add dimension and depth to the look.
You may also contour the eye by dabbing some plum coloured shadow in the mid lid. Use an eye shadow to blend and mix the colours together. Finally, highlight the brow bone (focussing more on the upper brow) using a neutral colour eye shadow to brighten the eyes and help the Smokey effect stand out. You may create a magical effect by blending bold colours like soft gold base with purple, champagne base with bright blue or peach base with a green hue to go ultra-glam.
Work on the Lashes
The next step is to highlight the lashes to make them look dense and prominent. Apply a thick coat of black mascara on the upper first and then on the lower ones.
Pull the liner upwards when working on the bottom lashes to make the eyes look bigger and rounder. Remember to let the first layer dry before you apply the next to prevent it from spreading. Cover the lashes carefully to define them and make each lash stand out. You may curl the lashes with an eyelash curler or use artificial eye lashes before applying the mascara to add some drama.
Groom Your Brows
The last step is to neatly highlight the brows to complete the look. Remember to tweeze or wax the eye brows for the perfect effect. Then use a black or dark brown brow pencil to make the brows look thick and noticeable. Your smokey eyes are now done up. Don’t forget to add oodles of attitude needed to carry the look!
