How Lifestyle is Responsible for Constipation

Constipation, if left untreated, is extremely harmful for the body. It disturbs the basic balance that is maintained by the excretory organs. The way we lead our lifestyle is a major cause of constipation.

Let us understand how to deal with it.

Constipation is caused by stress, both physical and mental. Have you ever wondered why do you feel an intense pressure in the morning to pass out the fecal matter? It is because the body is at rest when you sleep and this allows the organs to work better.

If you have recently developed constipation trouble then check your present stress levels.

Too much Sitting

Relaxation is good but too much of sitting or passive lifestyle can cause constipation. Those who cannot reduce their sitting must make sure that they exercise for 30 to 45 minutes every day.

Wrong Eating Habits

A diet that is low in fiber and high in fats and carbohydrates is most likely to cause constipation. Instead of eating a burger or sandwich for your lunch, grab 2 bananas, an apple or a large mango.  Consumption of white bread is a common cause of constipation.

When you miss meals and then binge on food later on; chances are high that the food will not be digested properly and cause constipation.

Include salad in your diet. If it is not possible to eat it during lunch then try eating enough raw cabbage, cucumber, lettuce and tomatoes in form of salad at dinner time.

Less Water and More Aerated, Caffeinated Drink

Water allows the feces to become soft and pass out easily. Many people show drastic improvement in their constipation trouble by increasing their water intake.

But this is not applicable to all the fluids that you will drink. Concentrated sugary and salty fluids increase constipation and cause stomach upset.

Interrupting the Biological Cycle

Each individual has its own biological cycle of getting up and falling asleep. Today`s lifestyle hardly allows people to follow a set routine and this leads to constipation and other metabolic related problems.

Try to have a routine and follow it religiously.

Suppressing the Urge to Use Toilet

Due to circumstances one may have to suppress the need to use the toilet. If this is continued for a very long time then the body may experience a temporary condition of constipation.
