How to Decorate a Children’s Room
A child’s bedroom is his/her kingdom! This is the place where your kid sleep, play, study and invite their friends to spend time with them.
Here are few pointers for you to keep in mind while decorating your little one’s bedroom.
Step 1: Decide what theme you would like to have! It is great if you could show your child what options and themes are available: princess, soccer, safari, circus and many more. Getting your child to help you and involve him/her in the decoration process develops his/her individuality.
Step 2: Scout out inexpensive ways of furnishing the room. Look out for half price sale and clearances in shops. Keep a look out on decoration items that you already have and that can be re-used and refurbished for a new life. A coat of paint and stencilling can go a long way! Think green!
Step 3: Create some homemade art work. Frame your child’s works of art and make a mini gallery in the bedroom!
Step 4: By separating the room with a bookcase or a chest of drawers, you can create different areas: a play area, a study area and a “chill out and sleep” area, which can be decorated differently. Be inventive!
Step 5: Once the layout of the bedroom has been decided, choose the lighting. Make sure you provide your child with a table lamp next to the bed for his/her use. This increase his/her autonomy. A night light close by should be availble to reassure your little one when it is time to sleep. Adequate lightining should be given in the study area, which should ideally located next to a window.
Step 6: Create an interactive wall of fame! Depending on the size of the room, paint an area with blackboard paint. This is a great idea to save the other walls of the bedroom of unwanted graffiti! Provide your child with a stock of colored chalk sticks. Hours of unlimited fun await!
Moreover think of your child’s bedroom as a work in progress! As the days go by, and as your child grows up, his/her likes change, their bedroom decoration slowly evolves and will soon entirely reflect their personality.
