One of the key elements of professionalism is time management. Effective time management is evaluated by delivery of best quality work within a given time period.

Let us talk about some effective ways which can help you make the best use of your office timing.

Use Excel Sheet and Time Tracking Software

Maintain an excel sheet or a small notebook of every hour during your shift work. Write in brief the tasks that have been performed on hourly basis. On the other hand you may use time tracking software for the same purpose. It will save you from doing the paper work.

These will help you in analyzing about your efficiency. Do this for a week and you will realize how your time is utilized.

It will give you a precise picture of how much output you are providing to the company.

Use of Cell Phone

Attend only to the text messages and avoid taking calls. Unnecessary use of cell phone disturbs focus and wastes time.

Even in office, a better mode of communication is through chat. You may add your office staff on the chats and communicate.

Remain Alert

You will be able to deliver best quality work only if you are feeling fresh and alert. This is possible by drinking limited amount of coffee/tea, doing chair exercises and taking power nap.

Power nap should not be for more than 10 minutes. Power naps are more effective in people who already have had a good 6 to 8 hour of sleep.

In a 12 hour shift you should not have more than 2 cups of coffee. If you develop a dependency then it will decrease your work efficiency because of disturbed sleeping habits.

One Break is enough

Frequent breaks during shifts have a negative impact on work efficiency. One long break of 20 minutes to one hour is enough. Avoid eating a heavy meal during this break in order to avoid laziness.

Theoretically, you may write many tasks that need to be done but practically, they may not be completed. Be reasonable when you set your daily targets. Divide your work as per the priority.

This will help in producing better results.
