Natural skin care products
When it comes to skin care, you only want the best. These days, everyone is going for natural products. And by natural products, we mean those products that do not contain any chemicals. Chemicals are harmful for the skin, so it is better to avoid those skin care products that contain toxic chemicals.
How would you know if your skin care products contain toxic chemical? Just look at the label, and see what ingredients have been used. But before passing any judgment, it is better to know what chemicals are usually used in beauty products and what their side effects are.
Alcohol is one common chemical that is used in many beauty products. This is extremely harmful for your skin. If it is applied on the skin directly, it can peel off the outer layer of the skin, which is considered a protective layer. This can expose the body to pollution and other air born bacteria.
Cationic surfactants are mostly found in hair conditioners. They contain non-static components. Long-term use of conditioners containing this chemical may lead to dry hair. While buying conditioner, check out the label and see if it contains chemicals like Benzalkonium chloride, Cetalkonium chloride, Stearalkonium chloride. If it does, then do not buy that.
While purchasing any product, make sure it does not contain Isothiazolinone and Chloromethylisothiazolinone. These two are highly poisonous and they are harmful for the eyes as well as the skin. As a matter of fact, they can cause permanent eye damage and burn the skin.
DEA, MEA and TEA are three chemicals that are harmful. Using products containing these three chemicals can lead to allergic reaction, dry skin and eye problems. Europe has restricted the use of these products in cosmetics, but many Asian and American counties still use them in their beauty products and cosmetics.
Many chemical based beauty products and cosmetics use Formaldehyde. This chemical has its own set of side effects. This chemical is responsible for headaches, constant fatigue and allergic reactions.
So, next time you go shopping for beauty products and cosmetics, check out the label and see what you are buying. You do not want to damage your skin in the process of making it beautiful.
