PCOS and Weight Loss

Get your blood sample checked for thyroxine levels and LH to FSH ratio. Additionally, get your cholesterol levels checked.

These tests will help in giving you an idea what is going wrong. The doctor will be able to give you drugs that will target the specific hormones.

Low Carbohydrate Diet

Body of most of the women suffering with PCOD is resistant to insulin. Under these conditions, the body does not use the carbohydrates to produce energy and stores them in the body just as fats are stored. This leads to rapid increase in weight.

Hence, it is critical that a low carbohydrate diet is followed religiously.

Other Changes in Diet

Quit smoking, drinking, caffeine and aerated drinks; if you are serious about getting rid of PCOD related problems. Cut down on salt and sugar intake. Cut down on packaged and processed foods and try to cook meals using fresh vegetables.

Eating large meals significantly increases glucose levels of the blood. Therefore, eat small but frequent meals.

Use of Natural Diuretics

Drink lots of water and herbal teas made from green tea, rosemary and Black kohosh. These are effective natural diuretics which aid in eliminating excess water from the body.

Stress and anxiety are ace causes of hormonal imbalance in women. You need to be patient in your efforts and remain optimistic.
