PMS has more than 250 symptoms and the common problem is the extra pounds that refuse to go away. Did you know that PMS weight is usually a result of water retention? For the same reason many women who lose their PMS weight end up having “inch loss” rather than “pound loss”.
Here are some effective ways which will help you lose that PMS flab.
Don`t fall for Cravings
Just before your periods are about to arrive your tongue will feel ticklish for crunchy, salty and sweet foods. Do not fall for the cravings.
Suffice your cravings for sweets by eating fresh fruits like mangoes, strawberries, musk melon, jack fruit and kiwi. These fruits are rich in vitamin A, E and C which help in reducing PMS symptoms. You may even eat honey poured liberally over a slice of brown bread.
For a salty treat you can prepare an omelet, using olive oil and severed with some cheddar cheese. Studies show that cheddar cheese is beneficial in PMS weight loss.
Stay away from carbonated drinks and beer (grain alcohol). They increase water retention. But you may have red wine once in a while. The resveratrol present in red wine is a powerful antioxidant which helps treat PMS.
You may even try sipping herbal teas sweetened with honey. They uplift mood and are good alternatives to tea and coffee. Green tea and lemon tea are especially known for their weight loss properties.
Effective Exercises
Such exercises should be practiced which can be continued even during periods. Exercises enhance release of endorphins which are “happy hormones in the body. They even help in reducing pain during periods. Exercise also helps in balancing hormones in the body and hence is an integral part of PMS treatment.
Such exercises should be chosen which do not stress the reproductive system. Stress and anxiety can common cause of PMS. Long brisk walk, tai chi and dance classes are good options.
Bridge pose and dhanurasana help in reducing sugar cravings by improving functioning of liver and endocrine system. The child`s pose help in reducing mood swings. Aerobic exercises which involve abdominal stretching are equally helpful.
Positive Attitude
Have a positive attitude towards your health and do crib about your extra pounds. Weight loss does not happen in a day or in a weak. Be patient and honest towards your body to achieve permanent result.
