Skin Treatments
If you want to stop your skin from looking older than you are, you will have to follow the following six tips. They are listed as such:
1. Make sure you drink enough water each day
Water is good for the body in so many ways. Not only does it keep your skin hydrated, it also flushes out harmful toxins from your body. Consider this example: the cells that make up your skin are like little sponges. If the sponges are dry, the cells become dried out and die. When the cells receive moisture, they become softer and smoother.
2. Cut back or eliminate your intake of coffee, alcohol and smoking
Again, let’s think back to the example of the sponge and your skin cells. Coffee, alcohol and smoking are known to cause the skin cells to dry out. By refraining from consuming the above, you can keep your skin properly hydrated.
3. Use a mild facial wash
Make sure that you wash your face each night before you go to bed. It is important that you remove any makeup that you had on that day. You can remove makeup by using olive oil. After you have removed the makeup, wash your face with a mild facial cleanser. This type of cleanser will release toxins and bacteria from your skin and let the pores open up and breathe.
4. Exfoliate your skin
Try exfoliating your skin with sugar. You can add a small amount of sugar to your facial cleanser. Rub the mixture into your skin in a circular motion. Give your face a good massage. The sugar will dissolve the oils that are holding your dead skin cells together. It will break up the dead skin cells and allow them to be removed from your face. After you have exfoliated your skin, follow up with a splash of cold water and gently pat your face dry. Try exfoliating your face at least twice a week.
5. Keep your skin moisturized
After you have washed your face you will want to moisturize it. This goes for people with oily and dry skin. Make sure that the moisturizer you use is not heavy and is made from a water-based solution. This will keep the skin hydrated without clogging the pores.
6. Take a tablespoon of cod liver oil twice a day
This next step may be a bit hard to swallow but it can really help your skin. You should take a teaspoon of cod liver oil twice a day – Once when you wake up, and again before you go to bed. Cod liver oil contains Omega-3 fatty acids, which help hydrate the skin cells.
