Soothe A Crying Baby
When we think about babies, we picture small, cute and cuddly persons meant for kissing and holding. And while at first, your newborn baby may be the picture of an angel, there will soon come a time when they will cry. And often, you can hold them, feed them, change them, or put them down for a nap and nothing will stop the crying.
Babies cry to communicate, to tell the parent what they want. Unfortunately, because they don’t speak, it is frustrating for the parent to try and figure out what will stop them from emitting those high pitched screams.
Sometimes a baby cries because it needs something. Other times a baby just cries. It is up to the parent to try and understand what is making their baby cry and to soothe them. This article will give some insight as to why babies cry and how parents can deal with a crying baby.
When a baby cries, it is usually because they need something. They may be hungry or their diaper may need to be changed. A child will cry if it is tired, sick or uncomfortable. The parent needs to fulfill all of the baby’s basic needs in order to stop it from crying.
A parent also needs to understand that when a baby is in the womb, all of its needs and comforts are attended to. The womb is a soft, quiet, dark, and warm place where a child resides for nine months. Once the child enters the outside world, it is a shock. The baby feels cold, needs to feed, needs to digest and feels insecure due to harsh lights and noise.
Soothe your child by replicating the environment of the womb. Keep the child swaddled in a blanket, close to your body and keep the lights low. Hold your baby against your chest so that it can hear your voice and feel your heartbeat. These two actions will also duplicate the sensations they had in the womb.
Babies like to have physical contact with their parent. Your scent or the warmth of your body can keep them calm. If your child continues to cry, try moving with them, rocking them, putting them in a vibrating chair, or even taking them for a car ride. The motion will simulate the same motions that they experienced while in your womb.
Caring for a baby is like a guessing game for new parents. But once you find a remedy that works, stick with it.
