Varicose veins and pregnancy
Varicose veins are also known as spider veins. They are clusters of veins that appear on the calves, thighs and ankles. These veins are slightly bluish red in color.
As these veins are just below the skin surface, they are visible. They are basically small broken blood vessels. These veins occur if the valves in the veins do not function properly. There can be many reasons for a valve malfunction, such as prolonged pressure on the vein or any other problem in the vein.
Those who have a desk job or have to stand or sit on one place for a long time tend to have this problem. Another reason for spider veins to occur is less exercise, or being overweight. Sometimes people can have spider vines from sitting cross legged for a long time. But that is not all; women can have this problem because of pregnancy. It can also be hereditary.
To prevent varicose veins you need to identify its symptoms. Some of the symptoms are itching, leg sores, leg cramps, etc.
A balanced diet is a must if you want to avoid this problem. Make sure you take less carbs and fat. Add more garlic, ginger and onions to your food. And eat pineapple, blackberries and cherries as much as possible.
It is better to have food that has high fiber. That will prevent constipation. It is better to avoid processed food. Always eat fresh.
Make a habit of exercising everyday. That will keep you healthy and also increase the blood circulation in the body.
Do not sit in one place for too long. Those who have a desk job better get off the chair and walk for a while every few hours. Also avoid sitting cross legged. Most importantly, try not to put too much pressure on your feet.
Tight clothes might make you look sexy, but they also disrupt the blood flow. So avoid wearing too tightly fitting clothes.
Spider veins can cause skin irritation such as itching. Do not scratch the place. You can massage castor oil on the affected area for pain relief.
