One of the many auspicious dates in a person’s life, be it a man or a woman, is his or her first date as there can be only one first date and once lost, it will never return.  The primary aim on the first date is to present your best to the other and dressing up to look the best in yourself is of course the first thing that comes to mind.

Dressing up to look good is the most important one and the difficult one, as you do not know what the other person likes or expects from you.  Read on for the tips that will help get an idea of what to do and what not to do on a first date with regard to dressing.

If you are a man

Do not try to impress the girl with fashion without any knowledge of it. You will be presenting yourself as a fool as girls know more about fashion.

Avoid wearing a suit on your first date, unless it is unavoidable as you go direct from the office to meet your date.  Always wear clothes in which you look comfortable and good and do not wear small-sized or over-sized clothes that do not fit properly.

Avoid using jewelry or else keep it to the barest minimum.

It is advisable that you use a slight dose of aftershave but ensure you do not overdo it as a stronger smell might irk your date. An antiperspirant deodorant is advisable, as girls will not like wet under arms.

On your first date, apart from ensuring that you present yourself in the best way without overdoing it, do not forget to complement your girl for her dress or appearance as girls like to be flattered.

If you are a woman

Do not overload yourself with a lot of jewelry as it may project a bad image about you in the eyes of your date. Keep it to the minimum, but essential and looking good. Being simple is always advantageous.

Take special care on the make-up as an overdose of it will make you look bad in the eyes of guys.  Remember that less is always more in these circumstances.

Do not use hair spray, as it might look bad. Avoid using lipsticks or bright colored nail paints, as guys normally do not like these things.

Wearing clothes to make you a trendy girl might not bode well with guys and as such try to wear nice clothes that make you look beautiful and not ugly, as being more beautiful is often ugly.  Try to plan your dressing well in advance as last minute purchases might upset you and adds to the pressure of first date.

Always present yourself as a confident woman and for this, it is advisable that you wear the right size of bra, which gives you that extra confidence. If you can show a bit of cleavage on the first date, that would be great.
